Professional nursing techs should have completed accredited AD or Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Program (BSN). The course normally spans a period of four years and on completion they can join as Registered Nurses (RGN or RMN). In place of the 4 year full fledged course, a one year course of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) studies (some places it is referred to as Licensed Vocational Nurse LVN) can also be undertaken. The course fee would range from $7500 to $12000 depending on the affiliated University.

Apart from graduation or diploma, the nurses would need to undergo specialized training in respective fields. There are many governmental agencies and healthcare institutions and colleges that conduct Student Nurse Tech Programs (SNTP).
